Storytelling fun in support of national literacy pledge

The children of Banks Road Primary School in Garston, Liverpool amazed judges with their imagination and storytelling skills at the Prinovis UK short story competition in support of the Vision for Literacy Business Pledge.

Prinovis UK invited the pupils of Banks Road Primary School in Garston to enter our Short Story competition and astound us with their creativity.  In June, the stories were judged by Prinovis UK and two winners were selected from the hundreds of fantastic entries.

The competition continues our support for the ‘Vision for Literacy Business Pledge’; a commitment to the drive to raise literacy skills in our local community.

One winning story was selected from across Key Stage 1 (years 1-2) and one from across Key Stage 2 (years 3-6). Both winners, together with their classes, spent a day enjoying a fantastic storytime adventure at The Storybarn in Calderstones Park on the 26th June.  Prizes of books were also awarded to the winners and runners-up in each category.

Last November, thanks to the support of Prinovis UK, the children of Banks Road Primary School enjoyed a storytelling session in their classrooms with the ‘Storybarn On The Road’ team from the Reader.  Banks Road Primary school which is located within minutes of our print site was voted for by employees to receive that experience.

Katherine Brown, Human Resources Director at Prinovis UK (pictured) says: "We would like to thank the children for their excellent stories and the staff of Banks Road Primary for supporting the competition.  We are proud to support the Literacy Pledge and even happier to be working alongside Banks Road school in doing so”.
