Dr. Dietz was born in Eussenhausen (Bavaria) in 1964 and studied chemical engineering in Erlangen from 1990 to 1994. After spending six months abroad at the central research laboratory of the Shell company in Amsterdam, Dr. Dietz did his doctorate at the Institut für Mechanische Verfahrenstechnik [Institute for Mechanical Process Engineering] in Erlangen.

From 1994 — 1999 Dr. Dietz worked in the building material industry, his last position being as head of a production plant with 60 employees. From there he switched to the printing sector to maul-belser. Initially appointed as a project engineer, he took charge of the press room in Nuremberg in 2001. In the subsequent years, he played a leading role in the development of the 4.32 m machines. In the summer of 2006, Dr. Dietz took over management at Prinovis Dresden.
