New order from France for Prinovis Nuremberg

Three elated colleagues: Christophe Uggeri and Astrid Meicherczyk from Sales, together with Product Manager Armin Fürnrohr, succeeded in bringing the French TV magazine Télé Loisirs on board to Nuremberg. Télé Loisirs is a weekly publication with a circulation of up to 1.6 million copies and 140 pages on average. It is a three-year contract. The client is Prisma Presse, the French subsidiary of Gruner+Jahr, headquartered in Paris. We have been cooperating with Prisma Presse for many years. So far, Prinovis has produced the following for Prisma Presse:

  • the weekly women’s magazine »Femme Actuelle« in Dresden
  • the monthly women’s magazine »Prima« in two formats (magazine and pocket) in Itzehoe
  • the monthly special interest titles »Ça m’intéresse«, »Guide Cuisine« and »Cuisine Actuelle« in Itzehoe
  • special editions for »Cuisine Actuelle« in Dresden
  • the pocket edition of the monthly women’s magazine »Bien dans ma vie« in Itzehoe

The first Télé Loisirs edition was printed during the first week in January. To the delight and relief of the client, the commissioned post press/finishing company and the participating Prinovis colleagues, start-up was particularly smooth. The order comprises production of two to three content sheet sections that are delivered to finisher Brofasud in France (greater Paris area) in bars, stacked on pallets. An offset printer in France, commissioned by Prisma Presse, supplies the cover. Brofasud does the saddle stitching.

The extremely tight schedule is noteworthy: maximum 24 hours from receipt of data in Nuremberg to the first delivery of both sheets in Paris, 65 hours to the last deliveries. The part volume comprising about 500 000 copies, destined for subscribers, is particularly critical. To manage this reliably, a complex dispatch plan is required, in which two drivers do all the transports and small trucks are on standby for short-notice delivery of the first volumes.

The carrier appointed by Prinovis has developed software providing information on the current location of the truck and the actual driving time compared to the scheduled driving time. This facilitates monitoring of the order and communication with the finisher. The finisher is also able to plan more accurately since, besides the option of monitoring via the Internet, he is systematically notified of the departure of each truck and of the scheduled driving time, including possible deviations along the way.
